Doctor. Female. 28.
Why do I sometimes write in the third person?
A: Writing, for me, is catharsis. It is my way of getting by. Doing it in the third person helps me distance myself from it. Especially when it is a particularly difficult experience that I am writing about. It is like locking my thoughts and memories away with someone else for safekeeping, if that makes sense. But it does make me feel a little pretentious. So I attempt to write as myself whenever I can help it.
Who is S?
A: S is a Doctor. We met in medical school. Dated for 7.5 years. Still close friends.
Who is C?
A: C stands for a term of endearment S made up for me back when we were together. I use it to refer to myself to avoid confusion, as my actual name starts with an S as well.
